Pat McEvoy Paintings
I work by selecting a section of a photograph I have taken to be enlarged and manipulated into a presence that will evoke the majesty of the moment I felt when taking the photograph. Color is my greatest ally in achieving this result. Local color is always a part of the process, but many interesting things happen along the way -- colors are heightened or held in check by what happens to the other colors around them as well as by their own "voice". Sometimes they change completely according to what the painting seems to demand. It is very important to me not to have a goal in any specific way about my end result while I am working. That way, every part of the piece, almost every brushstroke you might say, gets evaluated on its own merit as well as how it contributes to the liveliness of the painting as a whole. galleryeventsstatementbiolinkscontact
